THE HEART & VISION

The name Altitude reflects our call to look up. We believe a generation that allows the reality of the heavenly kingdom to inform their earthly lives will see communities, cities, and nations transformed.

The Vehicle: God establishes His kingdom through the local church. The power is in the gospel, and the vehicle is the church.
Inside-Out Change: True transformation requires a genuine encounter with Jesus, not just mimicking behavior. We want each Altitude student to experience the deep, value-shifting change seen in the people of the Bible.
The Impact: By equipping men and women to live from the reality of being seated with Christ, we will see a greater outpouring of God’s power move through our church and into the world.

In his letter to the Colossian church, Paul gave this instruction:

“Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.”

Colossians 3:1-3

When our hearts and minds are firstly fixed on what is above, we’ll be able to approach everything with the perspective of His kingdom, and it’ll cause us to truly make an impact on the world around us.

MEET THE TEAM

David McGillivray
ELDERSHIP OVERSIGHT

Dave and his wife, Ally, have three adventurous young boys and love getting into the outdoors. They have a passion for people and are on the eldership team at Oxygen Life Church.

Ant Meek
ELDERSHIP OVERSIGHT

Ant pioneered Altitude in 2017 and God has used him to train many young men. He has been part of Oxygen Life since the church was planted in 2002, and has been an elder since 2006. When not counceling you can find him on the paddle or squash court smashing out a great game!

Matt Anderson
ALTITUDE LEADER

Matt leads the Altitude team on the ground week to week and is a deacon and on staff at Oxygen Life Church since 2020 specifically giving his time to Altitude. His wife Jaimie is studying medicine and they have a real heart for the gospel to impact Africa.

Lisa Van Tonder
ADMINISTRATOR

Lisa works part-time on staff at Oxygen Life Church specifically giving her time to Altitude. She is studying Psychology and serves in the church as a deacon. She has love for people, the ocean and adventures.

CORE VALUES

Jesus First

The studies, serving, outreaches, fun and fellowship that make up Altitude are all very important, but they’re not our first priority. Jesus is. A personal, dynamic relationship with Jesus is the most important thing for each person, and everything else flows from that.

A Changed Life

Because of Jesus, we live differently. We put aside sin, and we embrace a holy life. We do whatever possible to live out the instructions seen in the New Testament, and to become more and more like Jesus.

We're in this together

God didn’t design us to live in isolation. We see a pattern of people being together in a family where they’re able to help and care for one another, encourage each other and spur each other on towards a common goal.

In this environment, we can speak honestly and with love, holding each other to the standard that God wants

from us.

Go! Go! Go!

God reaches out, and so we do the same. Jesus left His throne to seek those who were lost, and so we reach out to people who need to hear the message that Jesus died for the sins of the world, that we might have life.

If we love God we can’t help loving people around us, and reaching out to those He wants to reach.

Our Heart

Unity is a big value in the Bible. God shows His favour and blessing when we walk with a common vision and purpose. Altitude aims to be a team that truly walks in “one heart and mind” as we see demonstrated in the early church in Acts.
